New York vs. Minnesota weeklong battle royal of sports

Sunday, the New York Yankees clinched the American League Wildcard position, upon losing game 162 to the Boston Red Sox. This outcome set in place a first round series matchup between the Yankees and the AL Central Champion Minnesota Twins. The highly anticipated best of five will pit the teams against one another for the fourth time in the last eight postseasons.  

Amazingly, this clash of baseball titans is far from the only Minnesota vs. New York athletic contest set for the next few days. A marquee Monday Night Football game and a meaningless NBA European preseason tilt also place the Big Apple and Mini Apple (unofficial nickname for Minneapolis) on opposite sides of competition.
