The 55-year-old Silver became the head of the NBA in February of 2016, after serving as a top lieutenant to former commissioner David Stern, for eight years.

Three months after assuming the top spot, Silver successfully established his own imprint on the league upon instituting the lifetime ban of now former Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

Later in 2014, Silver further added to his list of accomplishments when negotiating a staggering nine-year/$24 billion broadcasting rights package with ESPN and Turner Sports. The $2.6 billion annual deal went into effect at the beginning of the recently completed season.
