Ainge Would Never Trade Rondo For Gasol (Video)
Wednesday, Comcast SportsNet New England reported that Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo will not be traded, this according to Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge.
“I don't know how many times I have to say it. Rondo's not being traded," stated Ainge to Comcast's A. Sherrod Blakely.
If Boston fans choose not to believe the sincerity of Ainge's public comments, all Celtics faithful has to do is take a listen to their head of basketball operations conversation with a couple young Lakers fans, outside of the C's Los Angeles hotel.
Prior to Boston's 94-85 victory over the Clippers on Wednesday night, Ainge stopped to sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans standing near the team charter buses at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills. While the two teenage Beverly Hills residents were taking their photos, each of them let Ainge know that they would be thrilled if he traded Rondo to the Lakers for Pau Gasol. A deal that has been rumored since the early stages of the season.
Ainge responded to the guys with a sarcastic, “Yeah, I'm sure you would.”
When asked if the trade was ever offered, Ainge responded, “No, I wouldn't even consider it.”

There you have it. Hoops fans throughout New England can rest a little easier knowing that the idea of trading a 26-year-old All-Star point guard for a 31-year-old big man is as crazy sounding to Ainge as it is to anyone else who follows the NBA with even a mild level of interest.
Ainge may indeed pull the trigger on a trade by Thursday's deadline. But, it does not appear that Rondo will be one of the guys told to pack his bags.
