Bill Walton uses unique chair at West gala (video)
One of the highlights of Thursday at NBA All-Star Weekend in LA was the unveiling of a Jerry West statue outside of Staples Center. Among the many luminaries in attendance was the legendary Bill Walton.
Arguably the greatest college basketball player of all-time, Walton endured an injury plagued pro career, highlighted by two NBA Titles ('77 Blazers, '86 Celtics).
After overcoming stuttering difficulties, Walton went on to become a successful and quite colorful broadcaster. He was forced to cut his second career short due to excruciating back issues and subsequent major reconstructive surgery.
Walton's troubled back was evident on Thursday, as he was the only attendee to bring his own chair to the West event. The good news is that Walton is back in the TV fold, analyzing a partial schedule of games for the Kings and Celtics.
