Detroit Pistons Autograph Signings: Blake Griffin's First Game
Last week, in a deal that absolutely shocked the NBA universe, the LA Clippers traded superstar forward Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons, in exchange for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic and two draft picks.
After seven highly productive, but often injury laden seasons in Los Angeles (missed his rookie season with knee issues), the Clippers decided it was time to cut ties with Griffin, a few months after seeing future hall of fame point guard Chris Paul depart for the Rockets.
Here is an up close look at Griffin signing autographs at Little Caesars Arena, prior to his first game in uniform for the Pistons. The look is provided by Lance Martinez from My Detroit Sports.
A Blake Griffin autograph was a huge deal on this day.
Since Griffin touched down in Motown, the Pistons are 4-0, including winning all three games when Griffin has taken the court. Prior to the five-time All-Star’s arrival, Detroit had lost six straight.
Detroit now finds itself only 0.5 games out of the final playoff spot in the east, heading into Wednesday’s matchup with the Nets.
Prior to joining the Pistons, Griffin seemed to always find time for Detroit hoops fans, during past visits to the area.
Here are two pieces of original video, showing Griffin signing autographs at the Palace of Auburn Hills, located 27 miles north of the Pistons new midtown Detroit home venue.
