Chris Paul Is An All-Star With Fans (Video)
Chris Paul is an All-Star point guard for the Los Angeles Clippers. Paul, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and the 2006 NBA Rookie of Year, began his career with the New Orleans Hornets, but needed a change of scenery after the 2010-2011 campaign. Prior to the 2011-2012 lockout-shortened season, Paul was initially traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, before the deal was nixed by NBA Commissioner David Stern. Shortly after, Paul was traded (with league approval) to the Clippers.
Paul's arrival, combined with the presence of star forward Blake Griffin, has completely transformed the Clippers' infamous culture of losing. Last season, LA advanced to the second round of the playoffs for only the second time in the last 37 years. So far in 2012-2013, the Clippers stand 31-9 (second best record in the NBA), just a half game behind the Oklahoma City Thunder for first in the Western Conference.
The Clippers are no longer the Lakers “little brother” in LA, considering that they presently possess a much better record and are now a very glamorous team in their own right.
Thursday night, per the above piece of iFolloSports.com original video, Paul was seen signing his signature for a group of fans at the Target Center in Minneapolis. This scene was captured shortly before tipoff of the Clippers 90-77 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, on TNT. Paul did not play, missing his third straight game, with a bruised knee cap.
For a true NBA superstar, it was very impressive to witness the level of exertion put forth by Paul, in his efforts to sign numerous autographs for the group of excited fans. Perhaps not coincidently, also on Thursday, Paul was selected as a 2013 All-Star Game starter. It will be the Wake Forest alum's sixth All-Star Game appearance.
