Wednesday, the San Antonio Spurs traded Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a protected 2019 first round pick.
Below is an extended clip of legendary Spurs coach Gregg Popovich breaking down the deal, shortly after the transaction became official.
The five-time champion discussed a variety of topics, including his opinions regarding Leonard and Green’s contributions to both the Spurs and San Antonio community, what DeRozan and Poeltl bring to the team, efforts to mend fences with Leonard and the need to move on.
Leonard has one year left on his contract, with DeRozan’s deal going until 2021.
