iFolloSports Interviews With Mateen Cleaves & Morris Peterson (Videos)
Recently, iFolloSports.com Michigan based contributor Lance Martinez attended former Michigan State star and 2000 NCAA Champion Mateen Cleaves' 1 Goal 1 Passion basketball camp at Kettering University, in Flint, Michigan, and AIMHIGH Sports Complex, in Lansing, Michigan. Cleaves created this project to partner with Michigan nonprofit organizations, businesses and professional sports teams, to provide holiday experiences for Michigan families in need, as well as offering free of charge hoops camps for kids.
While covering the events, Martinez captured video of Cleaves' speech to campers, while also recording interviews with both Cleaves and former Michigan State and NBA player Morris Peterson.
Golden States Warriors guard Draymond Green also makes an appearance in the coverage.
Cleaves explained to the kids that it was alright to be upset after losing, but stressed the importance of never blaming others and always looking inward to figure out how best to improve.
The two-time Big 10 Player of the Year/2000 Final Four MOP then sat down with Lance and went into great detail regarding the importance of giving back to the community and impacting the lives of the people of Michigan. The Flint native also discussed the significance of providing both sports instruction and life lessons to young people.
