iFolloSports.com NBA Finals Thoughts: GSW Leads 1-0
In Thursday night’s Game 1 of the 2017 NBA Finals, the Warriors showed why the addition of Kevin Durant has made them even that much better. Here is a piece from fivethirtyeight.com discussing the profound analytical difference Durant actually makes. Durant, Steph Curry and the rest of the Warriors just overwhelmed the Cavaliers in Game 1, with Cleveland looking a step slower as Durant and Curry combined for 66 points. Durant’s Thursday night also featured an astounding six dunks.
The Cavs looked incredibly shell-shocked, based on how easy the baskets were coming.
LeBron James had a good game, with 28 points, 15 assists and 8 rebounds. But, it was his 8 turnovers, as part of his team’s total of 20, that really doomed the defending champs.
The Warriors 113-91 triumph does not necessarily mean the series is over, since we have seen this before. Last year, the Cavs fell down 0-2 and 3-1, before coming back to win the finals in seven. However, the Warriors are better and healthier this time around and the Cavs had the look of a defeated team, as Game 1 came a conclusion.
