Jimmy Butler Spotted At A Minneapolis Health Club Amid Trade Speculation

Monday, the Minnesota Timberwolves held media day at Target Center, one day before the start of training camp. As was reported over the weekend, disgruntled All-Star Jimmy Butler was not in attendance at Monday’s festivities.

But just where was he?

While the Wolves were gathering on the west side of downtown Minneapolis, Butler was spotted working out at the Minneapolis LifeTime Athletic Club, located four blocks east at the Kimpton Grand Hotel Minneapolis.

Butler was in the Twin Cities for a preseason physical, but it is not believed that he will be participating in camp, at least not over the next few days.

Last week, the basketball world became abuzz after news broke of Butler requesting a trade from the Minnesota franchise, only one season after being dealt by the Chicago Bulls.

In the days since Butler’s shocking declaration, the Wolves have actively pursued trade talks (despite initial resistance from Tom Thibodeau and Scott Layden), while finally signing Karl-Anthony Towns to a long rumored five-year contract extension.

No word yet if Butler will continue to spend time at the luxury downtown Minneapolis property, or will be heading back to his offseason home of Malibu, California.
