Juwan Howard Sporting Both Michigan and Miami Gear (Photo)

Here is an original photo of former longtime NBA player/current Miami Heat assistant coach Juwan Howard holding up a Michigan Wolverines jacket (while wearing a Heat sweatshirt) at The Palace of Auburn Hills. The picture is provided by Lance Martinez from My Detroit Sports.

Despite growing up on the South Side of Chicago, many fans still place Howard’s younger days in the state of Michigan, due to his three-year run with the iconic Fab Five, in nearby Ann Arbor. The Palace sits just 54 miles northeast of the Michigan campus.

Howard played 19 seasons in the NBA, with his longest stint coming at the beginning of his career, amid spending his first 6.5 seasons with the Washington Bullets/Wizards. While in DC, Howard became the NBA’s first $100 million player, after the then Bullets matched an offer sheet made by ironically Pat Riley and the Heat.

Howard arrived in Miami in 2010, ending his career as a bench player on the Heat’s back-to-back title run. The now 43-year-old has remained a part of the Miami organization ever since.

For his career, Howard arrived 13.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
