The Late Great Craig Sager During The 2016 Playoffs (Photo)

Lance Martinez from My Detroit Sports provides this photo of he and the late great Craig Sager, who passed away Thursday, after a courageous two-year battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Sager was 65. He leaves behind his wife Stacy and five adult children.

This photo occured outside of The Palace of Auburn Hills, during last season’s opening round playoff series between the Pistons and the eventual world champion Cleveland Cavaliers.

Sager was in the midst of battling his horrific disease at the point when this picture was gathered.

Below is video from last summer’s ESPY Awards, where Sager was given the Jim Valvano Award. The clip includes an introduction from Vice President Biden, a moving video package chronicling Sager’s battle, followed by a heartfelt speech from Sager himself.

RIP Craig Sager
