Magic Johnson Speaking In Milwaukee (Photo)

Last week, legendary Los Angeles Lakers point guard Magic Johnson spoke at the 2013 Connect Marketplace event in Milwaukee. One of the meeting's attendees sent the above photo of the basketball and business icon wowing the crowd with what many deemed to be a very inspirational and informative speech.

Magic spoke of his competitive desire to be the best at everything he enters into, while also insisting that hard work is the key to being successful at anything in life. The 54-year-old noted that he brought a basketball with him, pretty much everywhere he went as a kid. In answering a question about the importance of purchasing expensive pairs of basketball sneakers, the Lansing, Michigan native emphasized that a player's ability is far more important than the equipment he or she chooses to wear.

Magic stated that his decision to enter into the business world came as a result of his wife urging him to once again become the man she married, after the Michigan State alum was forced to retire from the NBA (on multiple occasions), due to being diagnosed with the HIV virus. After a bit of soul-searching, Magic made the decision to focus his entrepreneurial efforts into providing underserved areas with businesses that had been sorely lacking.

Once his speech was complete, the current minority owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers hightailed it back to LA, so he could be present for the opening of his team's interleague matchup with the Boston Red Sox.

With high school, NCAA, NBA and Olympic championships on his résumé, combined with an estimated net worth of approximately $500 million, is there any doubt that anything Magic Johnson touches turns into Laker gold?
