NBA Offseason News: Kevin Love For Andrew Wiggins Update
Over the last few days, further evidence of the long rumored Kevin Love for Andrew Wiggins trade has come to light, with several related stories providing circumstantial evidence of what looks to be a near certain transaction. Below is a summary of what has been reported.
ESPN.com's Marc Stein and Brian Windhorst reporting on how the Timberwolves and Cavaliers are negotiating a deal that would send Love from Minnesota to Cleveland, in exchange for Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and a future first-round pick. The deal cannot become official until August 23, 30 days after Wiggins initially signed his rookie contract. In addition, the piece mentions the possibility of a third team getting involved.
In an interview with ESPN Radio New York, Windhorst mentions that the 76ers may become that third team in the mix. In the proposed scenario, Bennett could find his way to Philly, with Thaddeus Young going with Wiggins to Minny.
Wolves owner Glen Taylor tells Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press that Love will likely be traded by the end of August.
NBCSports.com's Brett Pollakoff notes that Wiggins' Cavalier jersey is now unavailable for purchase at NBA.com.
Sunday morning on SportsCenter, Wiggins (ironically wearing a Cavs jersey at a rookie photo shoot) was quoted as say "I just want to play for a team that wants me.”
During the interview, the number one overall pick also noted that he has not spoken to LeBron James, since LeBron announced his return to Cleveland.
