No Team Bus For Carmelo & Amar'e In LA (Video)
Thursday, in the midst of a three-game West Coast road trip, the New York Knicks stopped in Los Angeles for a nationally televised TNT game against Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. During this particular trip to LA, the Knicks stayed at the Montage Beverly Hills hotel.
While the entirety of the Knicks' roster, including members of the coaching and front office staffs, were transported to Staples Center via a standard team charter bus, New York's two best players elected to take the 10-mile trip via individually chauffeured vehicles.
Carmelo Anthony (above video) and Amar'e Stoudemire (video not available) left for the arena at approximately the same time as their teammates, just not in the same modes of transportation.
The above ifollosports.com original video shows Anthony exiting the hotel alongside rookie teammate Iman Shumpert. As Shumpert continues his walk towards the bus, Anthony veers off and enters an awaiting SUV. Seconds later, Anthony is driven away into the California twilight.
A few minutes earlier, Stoudemire was seen hopping into a Mercedes SUV, leaving the Montage in the very same manner as his superstar teammate.
ifollosports.com's other original videos from Thursday show coach Mike D'Antoni, Baron Davis, Tyson Chandler, Josh Harrellson, Toney Douglas and Landry Fields all climbing aboard the bus.
By contrast, it was interesting to note the way in which New York's two $20 million per year men found their way to work on this winter day in LA.
