Ricky Rubio Still A Rock Star With Fans (Video)

Ricky Rubio is a point guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves, in his second NBA season. Last season, during his rookie campaign, the native of Spain brought a needed level of excitement to a struggling Timberwolves franchise, scoring 10.6 points and dishing out 8.2 assists per game. As a result of his flashy, highly energetic style of play, Rubio quickly became a rock star in Minnesota and a popular attraction throughout the NBA. Examples of Rubio's wide ranging appeal include a spur of the moment autograph signing in Los Angeles, as well as a massive gathering of local fans, during a scheduled event at a suburban Minneapolis shopping mall.

Last March, Rubio and the Timberwolves were right in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race, before a collision with Kobe Bryant tore the point guard's ACL, causing him to miss the rest of last season and the first part of this campaign. Since the injury, the team has struggled and Rubio is not quite the same, with his numbers down to 4.1 points and 4.8 assists per game, as he continues the road to recovery.

Despite everything, Rubio is still very popular with Timberwolves fans. Above is iFolloSports.com original video of him signing autographs for a large group of excited admirers, stationed near the locker room area at Target Center in Minneapolis. This scene took place shortly before the Timberwolves recent 90-77 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, on TNT. In the contest, Rubio got his first start of the season, totaling four points and six assists in defeat.
