The Spectacular New Raptors Training Complex (Video)
Last week, the Toronto Raptors opened the brand new BioSteel Centre, a state-of-the-art training complex located in the Exhibition Place area of the city, 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) west of Air Canada Centre, the team’s downtown Toronto home arena.
The 68,000-square-feet Lake Ontario facing structure features 2 full size courts, luxury locker-room, fitness and medical facilities, as well as a players lounge, barber shop and dining room with full service kitchen.
In addition, offices housing both coaching and basketball operation staff are present in the C$38 million edifice.
One of the most unique attributes of the building’s basketball operation area is the highly technological digital “war room,” custom designed by IBM. The 9-screen setup provides real-time advanced data gathering capabilities for Toronto’s front office.
Prior to relocating to the new complex, the Raptors conducted practice in a side gym at Air Canada Centre.
