The Spurs Are Trying Their Luck With A Different Miami Hotel This Finals

San Antonio Spurs EPIC Hotel Miami 2014 NBA FinalsLast season, during the 2013 NBA Finals, the San Antonio Spurs visit to Miami involved accommodations at the Four Seasons Hotel, located in the city's Brickell neighborhood.

Perhaps in the interest of not repeating last year's logistical approach, or due to a simple matter of scheduling, this time around, the Spurs have elected to get their rest at the nearby EPIC Miami hotel. Positioned 0.9 miles north of the Four Seasons and 0.8 miles south of the American Airlines Arena, the Kimpton owned property provides the fellas from South Texas with picturesque views of downtown Miami, the Miami River and Biscayne Bay.

As a result of the Finals moving away from the 2-3-2 home/road format, and into the more classic 2-2-1-1-1 setup, what would normally be a nearly full week stay in Miami has now been relegated to less than four days, for both the Western Conference champs and the accompanying media from around the world.

For those interested, the EPIC sits 5.2 miles from the heart of South Beach. While this fact may be rather insignificant to many members of the all-business Spurs, the geographical proximity to one of the world's most legendary areas is always worth paying attention to.
