Spurs Players Discuss The Essentials Of The Famous Rodeo Road Trip | Video
Each and every February, the San Antonio Spurs embark on the club’s iconic “Rodeo Road Trip.” Thanks to the 17-day San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo setting up shop at AT&T Center, Gregg Popovich and company are forced to flee the Alamo City as roughly two million attendees descend on the Spurs home arena, along with the adjacent Freeman Coliseum, expo halls, stables and barns.
This season’s rodeo trip has involved visits to Sacramento, Oakland, Portland, Salt Lake City, Memphis, the 10-day All-Star break and Toronto, before capping their journey with back-to-back games in New York City versus the Knicks and Nets.
All told, the Spurs will have gone 23 days between home games, when the squad finally returns to San Antonio for Wednesday night’s contest with the Pistons.
With the eight-game trip concluding Monday night in Brooklyn, the team’s Twitter handle posted a fun video featuring DeMar DeRozan, LaMarcus Aldridge, Patty Mills and other players discussing the absolute essential travel items needed for the vaunted rodeo voyage.
Heading into Monday’s battle in New York City’s most populous borough, San Antonio is struggling, winning just one game on what is almost always a highly successful road trip.
