Stephen Curry Lived A Comfortable Childhood In This NC Home
Without question, the singular breakout performer of the NBA postseason has been Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry. After averaging an outstanding 22.9 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 6.9 APG and 1.6 SPG, during the regular season, Curry has stepped up his game to levels usually reserved for basketball superstardom. In his first “second season,” the 6-3 point man has tallied a phenomenal 26.5 PPG (3rd in postseason), 4.3 RPG, 8.9 APG (1st in postseason) and 2.0 SPG (5th in postseason). Suddenly, the Davidson alum has transitioned from a very good, young ballplayer, to that of a must-see attraction.
Unlike most current day NBA players, the world of professional basketball is a culture that Curry was an integral part of, starting at a very early age. For further proof of this fact, one only has to take a look at the extraordinary Charlotte home where Curry spent the vast majority of his childhood. Being the son of 16-year NBA stalwart Dell Curry (a player who just so happened to earn roughly $20 million of career salary) definitely involved a unique set of circumstances.
From 1996-2005, the Curry family lived in a six bedroom, nine bathroom home, situated 11 miles southeast of Uptown Charlotte (also known as downtown Charlotte) and 11 miles northeast of the South Carolina border.
Here are a series of photos showcasing the 8,305-square-foot mansion, which sits on 16 acres of land. The lush property features multiple amenities, including a pool, hot tub and basketball court. The gated home (located within a gated community) rests four miles from the Charlotte Christian School, Stephen Curry's high school alma mater.
Ironically, the Curry family sold the home to then Charlotte Bobcats/current Brooklyn Nets forward Gerald Wallace. Unfortunately for Wallace, after purchasing the home for $2.2 million in 2005, he was only able to unload the property for $1.2 million in 2012 (initially listed at $1.6 million).
As is incredibly obvious (once one has the opportunity to view Curry's palatial abode of his youth) life as a respectable, yet not remarkable NBA player can lead to a very luxurious existence. With this being the case, imagine the type of residence the younger Curry will be able to afford, once the Warriors ink him to potentially multiple maximum contracts.
