The Warriors Very Unique Oakland Practice Facility Setting
Saturday night, the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 121-118 in overtime, thanks to a Steph Curry 35-foot 3-pointer, with less than a second left on the clock. In the game, the defending MVP tied an NBA record of 12 3-point field goals in a single game.
While Curry and the 53-5 Warriors continue to dazzle America on the hardwood of Oakland’s Oracle Arena, as well as every road building the team pays a visit to, the NBA’s most entertaining squad spends the bulk of their time honing skills in a very unique practice setting.
Since 1997, the Warriors basketball and business operation has been headquartered in a facility built on top of the Oakland Convention Center’s parking structure. Here is an aerial look at the 2-story rectangular building, constructed on the fifth floor of an already existing building.
The facility provides 21,000-square-feet of basketball space (2.5 courts and 8 baskets), with 16,000-square-feet of both basketball operations and administrative office space, as well as modern player conditioning, medical and lounge spaces.
The downtown Oakland HQ sits 5 miles north of Oracle Arena and 7 miles across the Bay Bridge from San Francisco.
Perhaps most importantly, the complex is found 17 miles west of Mr. Curry’s recently purchased Walnut Creek, California mansion.
