2019 Final Four Stadium, Team, NCAA and Fan Bases Of Operation

This weekend, the men’s college basketball universe descends on the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul for the 2019 Final Four. This marks the fourth time that Minnesota serves as the host location for the event, with both the 1992 and 2001 Final Fours also taking place in downtown Minneapolis. The 1951 gathering occurred on the nearby campus of the University of Minnesota.

The Twin Cities has been on a bit of a roll when it comes to hosting major sporting events, with the 2014 MLB All-Star Game, 2016 Ryder Cup, 2017-2020 Summer X Games, Super Bowl LII and now the 2019 Final Four all occurring within the metro area of 3.6 million residents.

While the logistical setup of the 2018 Super Bowl involved bases of operation in the downtowns of Minneapolis and St. Paul, the campus of the University of Minnesota, as well as the suburbs of Bloomington and Eden Prairie, the entirety of the ’19 Final Four bases of activity will be housed within the confines of downtown Minneapolis.

Stadium

Saturday’s semifinal games and Monday night’s championship contest will be played at US Bank Stadium, located on the east side of downtown Minneapolis. The spectacular home of the Minnesota Vikings and Super Bowl LII opened its doors in 2016. The 66,000-seat complex will expand to 72,000 for this weekend’s games.
