Las Vegas Lays Out Its NCAA Tournament Odds
The sportsbook at Wynn Las Vegas has made Kentucky a clear favorite to win the NCAA Basketball Tournament, posting an opening line of 9-5 for the top seed. By contrast, Ohio State was the tourney favorite at 4-1 odds last year.
The Wildcats, who last won the NCAA title in 1998, were only 12-20 against the point spread this season.
Other strong favorites include Syracuse at 6-1, North Carolina at 6-1 and the Buckeyes at 7-1.
Oddsmakers clearly like Ohio State more than the NCAA selectors do.
Missouri stands at 8-1, Michigan State 9-1, Kansas 12-1 and Duke 15-1.
The lines for other notable squads such as Vanderbilt are 25-1, with Marquette at 28-1 and Louisville 30-1.
ACC Tournament champion Florida State, who beat both North Carolina and Duke last week, are curiously listed at 40-1, a very high line for such a strong team.
Georgetown is also an interesting play as a 45-1 long shot.
By the way, if you think that all four number one seeds will advance to the Final Four, your odds are 82-1.
