Syracuse Looking To Rekindle Some New Orleans Magic
Thursday night, #1 seed Syracuse held on to beat #4 Wisconsin 64-63, during their Sweet Sixteen meeting in Boston. With that win, Syracuse advances to the Elite Eight, where they will face #2 seed Ohio State on Saturday.
This will be Syracuse's first Elite Eight appearance since 2003, the same year the Big East school won their only NCAA championship, dramatically defeating Kansas in the final, at the New Orleans Superdome.
The Orange are looking to reach their fourth ever Final Four. If they are successful in doing so, three of the four trips will have taken place in New Orleans.
Back in 1987, Jim Boeheim's squad lost to Indiana 74-73, when Keith Smart knocked down his iconic game-winning shot for the Hoosiers.
The 2012 Final Four will be the Big Easy's first since 2003 and the fifth overall time the event has been held at the newly named Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
