Williams & Tar Heels Exiting Bus In CA (Video)
Friday night, during what can easily be classified as a Southern California stopover, prior to their participation in the EA Sports Maui Invitational, the North Carolina Tar Heels paid a visit to the Walter Pyramid, for a game versus Long Beach State (CSULB). While Friday's tilt was just another game for the high profile Tar Heel program, to the folks in Long Beach, a visit from the five-time NCAA champs was seen as one of the biggest basketball events in the history of the 36,000-student, southern Los Angeles County school.
Long Beach is coming off a Big West Conference regular and postseason championship last season. The 49ers successful run ended with a second round loss in the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
Per the above iFolloSports.com original video, the reloaded squad from Chapel Hill was seen exiting the team's charter bus, 90 minutes prior to what turned out to be a 78-63 win over CSULB.
Check out coach Roy Williams stopping to pose for photos with a small group of enthusiastic UNC fans, who happened to be positioned near the charter's parking spot.
The shot of Williams is followed by a glimpse of new assistant coach Hubert Davis, as well as the entire traveling roster, including forward James Michael McAdoo and guards Marcus Paige and P.J. Hairston.
In the 15-point victory, McAdoo posted 18 points and 9 rebounds, with Paige and Hairston netting 15 and 14 points respectively.
In the wake of losing four players to the 2012 NBA Draft (all first round picks), the revamped UNC roster takes the court this season with four newcomers to its still dangerous starting lineup.
