Fred Taylor's Record-Breaking Son Heading To Gainesville
Kelvin Taylor gave the Florida Gators a verbal commitment last Saturday, choosing UF over the national champion Alabama Crimsom Tide.
Taylor comes to Gainesville with some pretty fair bloodlines.
Kelvin is the son of Fred Taylor, an All-American for Florida who went on to an outstanding career with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The elder Taylor played in the NFL for 13 seasons and ranks fifteenth on the NFL all-time rushing list with 11,695 yards.
Kelvin is no slouch either, as he is much more than a legacy recruit. The 5-10, 205 pound tailback already is the state of Florida's career rushing leader with 9,695 yards, breaking the previous record held by Hall of Famer and Gator great Emmitt Smith. Taylor is closing in on the national prep record of 11,232 yards, set by Ken Hall of Sugarland, Texas between 1950-53.
Taylor, from Belle Glade, Florida, cannot sign a national letter of intent to enroll at Florida until the first week of next February.
