Recruit Chooses Auburn Because Of Chick-fil-A?
February 1 was national signing day for high school football stars and many gave typical answers about their college choices including academics, proximity to home, and coaches.
Linebacker Cassanova McKinzy of Birmingham, Alabama had his own reasons for his decision.
The creatively-named McKinzy paired his choices to two universities and eventually signed with Auburn, picking them over Clemson.
McKinzy told the media his choice came down to fast food.
"They had no Chick-fil-A on campus," he said of Clemson. "You had to go probably like 15 minutes off campus to go to a real restaurant. Their cafe was kind of small."
Actually, there is a Chick-fil-A at Clemson, but hosts did not point it out to McKinzy during his recruiting visit. Apparently, they did not know that the way to his heart is through his stomach. Don't expect the Tigers to make the same mistake in the future.
Ironically, Clemson opens their 2012 season against Auburn at the Georgia Dome, in of all things, the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game!
