Two Texas Colleges Combine To Score 128 Points In One Game!

Hardin-Simmons beats Sul Ross State 86-42The Hardin-Simmons Cowboys raced out to a 49-7 halftime lead, holding on to beat Sul Ross State 86-42 Saturday. In the process, these two Division III squads combined for 1,714 total yards, with Hardin-Simmons (located in Abilene, Texas) totaling a record-setting clip of 914 total yards. The Cowboys improved their seasonal mark to 5-3.

HSU quarterback Logan Turner passed for 685 yards and eight touchdowns in the win. Overall, there were 23 NCAA, conference and/or school records set, or tied, during the shootout.

Sul Ross State, who came into the game with the top offense (and worst defense) in Division III, managed to rack up 800 yards, despite playing without their top running back and wide receiver.

At least Sul Ross won the third quarter (35-27). That's 62 points in 15 minutes!

Remarkably, the two teams even found time to combine for nine punts in the contest.
