Upset Alert From The BCS Title Game
Notre Dame is a 10-point underdog to Alabama in Monday's BCS Championship game at Miami. Coach Brian Kelly's unbeaten Fighting Irish are ranked number one in the polls, after impressive road victories over both Oklahoma and USC. Led by linebacker Manti Te'o, Notre Dame is particularly stout on defense.
Alabama was upset at home by Texas A&M and survived narrowly against both LSU and Georgia. The number two ranked Crimson Tide are 50-0, under coach Nick Saban, when gaining 140 or more yards rushing. But, the Tide (and for that matter the SEC, which suffered upset losses in bowl games by LSU and Florida) are not as strong as in recent years.
When ranked number one, Notre Dame has never lost to a team ranked number two, with the only blemish being the historic 10-10 tie, in 1966, versus Michigan State.
Look for the Fighting Irish to keep it close and perhaps score a huge upset.
