Upset Alerts For The Opening Weekend Of College Football Week 1

Attempting to pick games on the first weekend of the college football season can be an unpredictable effort, as none of the teams have played a game yet.  But, here goes anyway.

The Ohio Bobcats travel to Penn State as a six-point underdog to the downtrodden and undermanned Nittany Lions. Ohio has Frank Solich as their head coach and a talented quarterback in Tyler Tettleton, which should be enough to spring the upset, as the Nittany Lions are reeling from NCAA sanctions and player transfers.

Auburn is a four-point underdog against Clemson at the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic in Atlanta. In a battle of top 25 teams, Clemson may still be suffering a hangover from last year's shellacking by West Virginia in the Orange Bowl.

North Carolina State should be able to upend Tennessee, as a three-point dog, Friday night in Atlanta. The Volunteers were only 1-7 in the SEC last year and are still in rebuilding mode.
