Upset Alert Recap From The College Football & NFL Weekend
Stanford was a 20.5-point underdog at Oregon, but rallied to stun the Ducks 17-14 in overtime. The Cardinal scored a late touchdown, to tie the game, and then won on a field goal in overtime. The loss ended Oregon's nation's-longest winning streak at 13.
Michigan State was a 7.5-point favorite at home against Northwestern, but was outscored by the Wildcats 23-20, courtesy of a fourth quarter field goal. Northwestern improved to 8-3, while the highly-underachieving Spartans are now 5-6.
Ohio State was a 2.5-point underdog at Wisconsin and stormed past the Badgers 21-14 in overtime. OSU's defense was the difference, as the unbeaten Buckeyes are now 11-0 for the season, although ineligible for postseason play due to NCAA sanctions.
Rutgers was a seven-point underdog on the road at Cincinnati. The now number 21 Scarlet Knights (on their way to the Big Ten?) stifled the Bearcats 10-3, improving its record to 9-1 for the season.
All four of our NCAA underdogs not only covered the points spread, but won their games outright.
The Cleveland Browns were a nine-point underdog at Dallas. The Cowboys were forced to score 17 points in the fourth quarter and then kicked an overtime field goal, edging the Browns 23-20.
Dallas is now 5-5 in 2012 and 125-125 since 1997 (regular season).
