Baltimore's Past & Present Battle In AFC Wild Card
Sunday, the 10-6 Baltimore Ravens host the 11-5 Indianapolis Colts, in an AFC Wild Card matchup. At the beginning of the year, many people had the Ravens playing in the postseason, but very few picked the Colts to do the same. Behind Andrew Luck, Indy experienced a remarkable turnaround in 2012, improving on their 2011 win total by nine victories. The organization drew a high level of inspiration amid head coach Chuck Pagano's unfortunate battle with leukemia, which sidelined him for most of the season, before his return last week.
This game features Baltimore's original NFL team, the Colts, who famously moved to Indianapolis during the middle of the night in 1984, against the Ravens, who entered the league in 1996, after relocating from Cleveland.
Sunday will be the third playoff meeting between these two teams, with the Colts taking the previous two. When Peyton Manning quarterbacked the Colts, Indy owned the Ravens, winning eight games in a row, before Baltimore finally snapped the streak last season, with Manning sidelined.
