Can The Packers & Giants Repeat Their 2008 Magic?
The last game of this weekend's divisional playoffs features the Green Bay Packers hosting the New York Giants at Lambeau Field. This is the Packers first home playoff game since the 2008 NFC Championship Game classic, which some people dubbed "Ice Bowl II." The temperature was an incredible minus-23 degrees wind chill at kickoff.
In that legendary game, Eli Manning and the Giants defeated the favored Packers 23-20 in overtime.
Lawrence Tynes nailed a 47-yard game-winning field goal, after Brett Favre threw an ill-timed interception. That pass would turn out to be Brett Favre's final throw in Green Bay.
This time, the Giants face a red hot Aaron Rodgers and a 15-1 Packers team that is once again a heavy favorite. For football fans, we can only hope that this game will be as good as the last playoff contest between these two traditional NFL powers.
The forecast for Sunday's game calls for partly cloudy skies, with temperatures around 30.
