Chargers One Step Closer To LA Relocation?
As the San Diego Chargers continue to deliberate on whether to join Stan Kroenke and Rams in Los Angeles, one interesting piece of real estate news broke Thursday that may very well provide a hint as to which way San Diego owner Dean Spanos is leaning.
The Chargers have purchased land in the Orange County city of Santa Ana, which would serve as a temporary and potential permanent practice facility/headquarters for the team.
The site is located 38 miles southwest of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (likely temporary home field) and 37 miles south of what could be the Chargers future Inglewood home stadium.
The centrally positioned Orange County setting is 5 miles from John Wayne Airport, 2 miles from South Coast Plaza (largest mall in Western US), while being in close proximity to the desirable living locales of Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach and Irvine.
Scott M. Reid from the Orange County Register provides further detail.
