The Colts At 49ers Matchup Is Loaded With Storylines

Andrew Luck Played Two Years For Jim HarbaughSunday afternoon, the 1-1 San Francisco 49ers host the also 1-1 Indianapolis Colts, with both teams coming off losses in Week 2. This game means the San Francisco Bay Area homecoming of Colts QB Andrew Luck, who played college football at Stanford, 32 miles south of Candlestick Park. The contest also features the reunion of Luck and 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, who recruited and then coached the QB for two years at Stanford. Ironically, Harbaugh also played quarterback for the Colts from 1994-1997.

Coincidently, these two teams have been involved in significant off the field stories this week. On Wednesday, the Colts traded their 2014 first round pick to the Browns, in exchange for Trent Richardson. Then, early Friday morning, 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith was arrested on suspicion of DUI in San Jose.

The Colts have won the last two meetings against what were lesser 49ers teams (2005, 2009). This time around, the 49ers are the superior squad and with a long West Coast trip in store for the Colts, this matchup definitely favors San Francisco.
