Hot Houston Battles Disappointing Detroit On Turkey Day

Detroit Lions began NFL play in 1930, Houston Texans began NFL play in 2002In the first of three Thanksgiving NFL games, the 4-6 Detroit Lions host the 9-1 Houston Texans. The Texans 9-1 record marks by far the best start in the 11-year history of the franchise. With a win on Thursday, the club would tie its single season win total record of 10 (set last season).

Entering this weekend, Houston stands tied with the Atlanta Falcons for the top spot in the NFL.

The Lions have struggled this season, after going 10-6 last year, when the 82-year-old organization made the playoffs for the first time since 1999.

The Texans come into this contest on a four-game winning streak, while possessing a perfect 4-0 road record. Surprisingly, the Lions are only 2-2 in the Motor City, during 2012.

These two franchises have only met twice, with the teams splitting those matchups. The Texans won the last meeting, back in 2008.
