Meeting Jerry Jones at Cowboys Camp in Oxnard
I headed up to Oxnard to take in a day at Cowboys’ training camp. Between the morning and afternoon practice sessions, I was hanging out in the parking lot in front of the Marriott Residence Inn. After a few minutes, I noticed Cowboys owner Jerry Jones standing outside of a Lincoln Navigator, speaking to someone within the vehicle. After the conversation ended, I asked Mr. Jones if I could pose for a photo with him. I figured this would be no problem because of Jones’ generally affable and gregarious nature around fans.
Jones said, “sure, come on over.” Afterwards, I thanked him for the photo and wished him good luck in the upcoming season. Even though he was in a bit of a hurry, it was cool that he still took the time to meet with me for a minute.
It’s interesting that a high profile person like Jones was so accessible in this parking lot. It was also interesting to see Jones dressed much more like a coach, than that of an owner. He appears to be as involved as any owner in sports. This involvement seems to also include mixing it up with both football players and fans alike.
Jerry is a good guy!
