NFL Legend Barry Sanders Signing Autographs | Video
NFL Hall of Famer and former Detroit Lions star, Barry Sanders, was without question one of the greatest running backs to ever play, with some arguing that he may have been the very best.
iFolloSports.com captured the below original video, this past Saturday afternoon, as Sanders made his first ever autograph signing appearance in Minnesota, in the Twin Cities suburb of Minnetonka. The event was held in conjunction with Schwartz Sports.
Even in a former rival state like Minnesota, Barry Sanders autographs are a high demand item.
The Lions selected the Oklahoma State alum with the third pick in the 1989 NFL Draft. That famous draft also included hall of famers Deion Sanders and Troy Aikman, with the Cowboys QB serving as the first overall pick.
The ‘88 Heisman Trophy winner dazzled right out of the gate with his electric speed and style, winning the ‘89 offensive rookie of the year, amid amassing 1,470 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.
All told, the Detroit legend was a 10-time Pro Bowl selection, six-time First Team All-Pro and the 1997 Co-MVP, when he rushed for 2,053 yards. The Kansas native led the NFL in rushing four times.
The now 49-year-old finished with 15,269 rushing yards, which places him third all-time, along with amassing 99 rushing touchdowns and 10 receiving TD’s.
Sanders speed and allusiveness gave him the ability to break a big play at any time, making him one of the most exciting and popular players in the NFL, during his career that occurred from 1989-1998.
When he retired after the 1998 season, at age 30, many believed that he probably had two or three really good years left in the tank, but he ultimately made the decision that it was time to walk away from the game and the Lions.
