Payton & Brees Have Had Their Struggles In Chicago
Sunday, the 3-1 Chicago Bears host the 4-0 New Orleans Saints. The Bears are coming off a 40-32 loss last week to the Lions, while the Saints convincingly beat the Dolphins 38-17, on Monday Night Football. For all of the Saints success since Sean Payton and Drew Brees descended on New Orleans in 2006, the Bears have been one of the few teams to really have their number. Payton (attended high school in nearby Naperville, Illinois) is 0-3 at Soldier Field, while Brees is 0-4 for his career (one of Brees' losses came as a member of the Chargers). Overall, the Bears have defeated the Saints four of the last five times the teams have met. The Saints did prevail over the Bears, 30-13, during the last meeting in 2011.
Thus far in 2013, the normally porous Saints defense has only given up an average of 13.8 points per game (5th in NFL), while the historically potent Bears defense has allowed 28.5 points per contest (26th in NFL).
There is a chance of rain and wind in Chicago on Sunday, which could certainly be a factor for the dome team from The Big Easy.
