Reliving the birth of Batman & Robin
Sunday marks the red carpet premiere of the Cincinnati Bengals' highly anticipated version of the Batman & Robin Show. Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco will enter Foxborough's Gillette Stadium as one of the most talented and demonstrative wide receiver pairings in NFL history. Whatever happens this season, the Bengals will almost certainly be among the league leaders in national news coverage and colorful quotations.
Bengals fans know that the key to this experiment is the behavior of the often forsaken Owens. TO's well chronicled issues in San Francisco, Philadelphia, Dallas and Buffalo to a lesser extent, have made him the league's most controversial figure during this generation of football. The Bengals hope and pray that the public lobbying of quarterback Carson Palmer and the former Chad Johnson will give the team at least one year of good behavior from Owens. If Cincinnati's two most important players were so interested in obtaining him, maybe TO will find a way to behave himself in the Queen City for the next few months.
Fans may remember that Ochocinco's public courtship of his longtime friend began two days before February's Super Bowl in Miami. Below are two pieces of video from Ochocinco's Miami Beach Big Game fiesta. These clips represented the beginning of a public process that culminated in Owens finally finding his way to the 2009 AFC North Champions.
