Two North New Jersey Towns Represent One Major Hub Of Sports | Photos
While the borough of Manhattan has long been the headquarters of numerous professional sports leagues, teams and major media entities, a short distance across the Hudson River resides a pair of adjacent cities that quietly lay claim to yet another remarkable collection of highly significant athletic bases of operation.
Separated by New Jersey’s Hackensack River, the cities of Secaucus and East Rutherford (NJ) provide HQ's for some rather unique aspects of the NBA/WNBA, MLB, NHL, NFL and horse racing.

Located four miles across the Lincoln Tunnel from NYC, the 16,000-resident city of Secaucus is home to NBA Entertainment, the MLB Network and NHL Network.
The below building houses the NBA’s video and film production arm, as well as the league’s now famous replay center. In addition, this facility serves as the setting for both the NBA and WNBA’s annual draft lottery shows.

Two miles from NBA Entertainment stands the fairly nondescript commercial building that plays host to both MLB and NHL Network operations. Positioned on a renamed street titled MLB Network Plaza, the large structure was once the setting of MSNBC, before the cable news channel relocated to Midtown Manhattan’s Rockefeller Center.

A short drive west on Route 3 brings a sports fan to the Meadowlands Sports Complex, home of MetLife Stadium (upper right), the Quest Diagnostics Training Center (below), the Meadowlands Racetrack and Meadowlands Arena (former IZOD Center).

With all those teams gone, the former IZOD Center/Continental Arena (right side of photo) now opens its doors to concert rehearsals and television/film productions.

For those wondering, while the Giants practice right next door to MetLife, the Jets get their work in 26 miles to the west, in suburban Florham Park (NJ).
