Will Brees' Success Vs. Brady Continue At Foxboro?
Sunday afternoon, the 4-1 New England Patriots host the 5-0 New Orleans Saints. The Patriots are coming off a 13-6 loss to the Bengals last week, while the Saints beat the Bears 26-18 at Chicago. In addition to the Patriots going down in defeat, future Hall of Fame QB Tom Brady did not throw a touchdown pass for the first time in 52 games. New England continues to be without injured TE Rob Gronkowski, who once again is not expected to take the field this weekend.
For the Saints, what a difference a year makes. Last season, without suspended head coach Sean Payton, New Orleans started out 0-4 and finished a very disappointing 7-9. These two interconference franchises do not play each other a whole lot, with the Patriots posting a 2-1 mark since Brady assumed the role of New England starter. The Saints did win the last contest, 38-17, back in 2009.
Amazingly, Drew Brees is one of the few quarterbacks to have Brady 's number. Brees has a 3-0 career record against him, with 2 of those victories coming when he played for the Chargers.
Both teams have played very well on defense this season. The Patriots are tied for third in the points against category, with the Saints coming in fifth.
Sunday's contest shapes up to be a good game, since the Patriots tend not to lose a lot at home, while the Saints traditionally play poorly outdoors.
