Young QB's The Story Of The NFL Postseason
Saturday, the quest for Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans gets underway. Many of the usual stars will participate in the postseason, including big names like Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Matt Ryan.
However, this playoff season will also involve a crop of six young quarterbacks, either in their first or second NFL campaigns. Colin Kaepernick, Andy Dalton and Christian Ponder headline the second-year men, with the unprecedented rookie class of Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III establishing a record of three first-year signal callers starting for their respective teams. All three “freshman” have been so good, it will be very difficult to decide which guy will be honored with Rookie of the Year status, as all of them have more than exceeded expectations, while completely turning around underperforming franchises.
Better yet, it will be rookie star versus rookie star, when the Seattle Seahawks (Russell Wilson) and the Washington Redskins (Robert Griffin III), battle in the late NFC Wild Card game on Sunday.
Yes, older established teams like the New England Patriots (Brady) and the Denver Broncos (Manning) are the favorites to win the Super Bowl. But, with this great crop of young players, there is no doubt that the NFL is in good hands for many years to come.
