Can The Ducks Reverse A Recent Negative Trend?

Ducks blown 3-2 playoff seriesSaturday night, the Anaheim Ducks host the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals. The very talented Blackhawks have won two of the last five Stanley Cups (2010, 2013) and are looking to get back to the final round for the third time in six years. The Ducks tied for the best record in the west, cruising to a mark of 51-24-7. Anaheim is not far removed from winning its own title, with the Orange County franchise capturing the Cup back in 2007.

Recent history has not been kind to the Ducks, who similar to the Lightning, possessed 2-1 and 3-2 conference finals leads this series, only to have to play in a deciding Game 7.

In 2013 and 2014, the Ducks also owned 3-2 series leads, losing Game 6 on the road and then a subsequent Game 7 at home, during both seasons.

In 2014, the Blackhawks also lost Game 7 of the Conference Finals, at home to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings.
