While the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the then New Jersey Nets in the 2002 NBA Finals and the New Jersey Devils took out the Anaheim Ducks, during the 2003 Stanley Cup Final, teams from the borough/county limits of America's two largest cities have not battled for league supremacy, since the Los Angeles Dodgers won the 1981 World Series, over the New York Yankees.
