Mario Lemieux Reacts To Yet Another Penguins Stanley Cup Victory (Video)

Mario Lemieux After 2017 Stanley Cup WinSunday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins wrapped up their second straight Stanley Cup championship, after notching a 2-0 Game 6 victory versus the Nashville Predators. The Pens now own a whopping five NHL titles since 1991. With five crowns apiece, Pittsburgh and the Edmonton Oilers can boast of hoisting the cup more than any other non original six hockey franchises.

The one common dominator of every Penguins championship is the iconic Mario Lemieux. The hall of famer was the best player during the club’s back-to-back 1991 and 1992 titles, while serving as co-owner and chairman for the last three (2009, 2016, 2017).

In the minutes after Sunday’s clincher, the 51-year-old spoke to NBC’s Pierre McGuire regarding his feelings on winning yet another cup, the greatness of this year’s team (most notably Sidney Crosby) and where the Pens rate in the Pittsburgh sports landscape.

During the exchange, Lemieux notes the amazing tidbit that Crosby lived at his Pittsburgh area mansion for eight years.
