Nick Leddy & The Stanley Cup Tour The State Of Hockey (Videos & Photos)

Nick Leddy's Day with the Stanley CupLast month, the Chicago Blackhawks captured their fifth-ever Stanley Cup, courtesy of a six-game series victory over the Boston Bruins. In accordance with long standing NHL tradition, each player from the championship team gets their very own day with the one and only Stanley Cup. Typically, players bring the iconic trophy back to their hometowns. Thursday and Friday were no exception, as Blackhawks defenseman Nick Leddy toured the historic hardware around Minneapolis and its surrounding suburbs.

Thursday afternoon, Leddy and the cup stopped through Maynard's Restaurant, a very trendy summertime hangout (on the shores of Lake Minnetonka), in the Twin Cities suburb of Excelsior. Below is original video of the 22-year-old arriving at the establishment, followed by an original clip of him displaying the trophy to the large and excited crowd.

Ironically, country music superstar Kenny Chesney arrived at Maynard's, shortly after Leddy's appearance. Chesney is performing at Minneapolis' Target Field on Friday night.

Friday afternoon, Leddy and the cup paid a visit to the Eden Prairie Ice Arena, situated right next to Leddy's alma mater of Eden Prairie High School. The former Minnesota "Mr. Hockey" was born and raised in the southwest Twin Cities suburb. Wearing his high school hockey jersey, the 2009 first round pick walked past a huge crowd of excited supporters, just before heading inside for a ceremony. Below is an original photo of the stretch SUV that transported Leddy and the cup to the event, as well as an original photo of the champ and trophy making their way amid the exuberant group of attendees.
