Penguins Practice Facility Is Very Impressive | Photos
Monday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins opened up the 2017 Stanley Cup Final with a 5-3 victory over the Nashville Predators. Game 2 will take place Wednesday night at uptown Pittsburgh’s PPG Paints Arena. The Penguins are seeking their second consecutive NHL championship and third in the last nine years.
When the four-time Stanley Cup champs are not taking the ice at their seven-year-old home stadium, the iconic hockey club conducts business in the northern Pittsburgh suburb of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania.
Since 2015, the Pittsburgh Penguins practice facility has been housed at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, a 185,000-square-foot facility, which sits 21 miles north of the PPG Paints Arena. The joint venture of the Penguins and UPMC Sports Medicine features private and public hockey space, as well as a 54,000-square-foot sports medicine clinic.
The Pens portion of the practice facility, known as Penguin Rinks, includes a full-size NHL rink, locker, weight, training, film and equipment space, with a players’ lounge and coaches’ offices.
