Rams Temporary Offseason, Training Camp & Practice Facility Sites (Photos)
Beginning in August, the reborn Los Angeles Rams will kickoff a three-year run of home games at the Los Angeles Coliseum, before beginning play at the team’s yet to be built $2.6 billion stadium and entertainment complex, in the LA County city of Inglewood, located just east of Los Angeles International Airport. The 93-year-old coliseum sits two miles south of downtown Los Angeles, across the street from the USC campus.
Since officially arriving back to Southern California in April, Rams players, coaches and football operations staff have been spending their offseason at the Dallas Cowboys training camp facility in Oxnard, California (62 miles northwest of the coliseum). This venue was attractive to the team due to its fully equipped football training amenities, as well as the fact that it is on the same property as a Marriott Residence Inn, allowing both players and staff the opportunity to temporary live on the practice grounds.
While the football staff has been doing its work in Oxnard, the business side of the Rams front office has been based at an office building on Agoura Road in the LA suburb of Agoura Hills (26 miles southeast of Oxnard and 40 miles northwest of the coliseum).
Once the Cowboys come west for training camp, the Rams will head south to their former home turf of Orange County, with the team conducting camp on the campus of UC Irvine (43 miles south of the coliseum).
Upon breaking camp, the team will relocate to a temporary practice facility now being built on the campus of California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks (48 miles northwest of the coliseum and 10 miles northwest of the Agoura Hills office building). As we speak, two professional fields, a parking lot and temporary modular buildings (will house locker room, weight room, training room, coaches and football operations offices) are under construction. California Lutheran will serve as the Rams headquarters for a minimum of two years.
Amazingly, the Cowboys held training camp on the very same California Lutheran campus from 1963 through 1989.
While the Rams are getting settled into their temporary training facility, the club’s business operation will move right next door from their current Agoura Hills building, to a different building, which is now under renovation.
While the next couple years will involve a great deal of temporariness for the Rams, once the dust settles, the team’s football and business operations will be based under one roof, likely in a yet to be selected site in the Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village/Agoura Hills area.
The team will take the field in Inglewood during the 2019 NFL season.
