Team USA Hoping To Not Relive 1988 & 2004 In London

2012 United States Men's basketball teamThursday night, the 2012 United States Men's basketball team defeated the Dominican Republic 113-59, during their first exhibition game at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

At the end of the month, the US team will begin their quest to capture a 13th all-time gold medal at the London Olympic games.

A gold medal victory would be the team's sixth in the past eight Olympics. The two times since 1984 that the United States did not win the event were in 1988, when the John Thompson led squad lost in the semifinals to the then Soviet Union and Larry Brown's 2004 roster, which went down to Argentina in the very same round.
